STEP 1
Open IMVU Chat Messenger.
I recommend you put yourself on DND so that you will not be disturbed while you do this – it helps when you are taking the actual screenshot. If you do not know how to put yourself in Do Not Disturb –put your cursor on the upper right corner of the IMVU messenger and you’ll see these options: Available, Buddies Only, Adults Only and DND. Click on Do Not Disturb.

STEP 2
Now, get your avatar prepared. Put on the outfit you wish to have on in the screenshot. This includes accessories and poses (that are accessories – not furniture). In order to do this – click on the Inventory Tab – then on the tabs for the clothes you wish to put on.
STEP 3
Go to the room where you will take the screenshot. You will need to have (or get) an Interactive Room (if you do not have this you can buy it here or you can use your Bionic White Room (this is a default room everyone has in their inventory.)
The Interactive Room is more convenient. (If you are using the bionic room -- skip over the next part --until it says continue). If you have the Interactive Room – just follow the direction it gives to hide the grids and instructions (hide1 and hide2).
The purpose of this step is to get a clear shot of your avatar with nothing behind it and a solid color in your background—this makes it easier to make a screen shot that you can get your avatar out of easily to make stickers. There are different colors in the interactive room. In order to do this you simply type in the color you wish it to be. Why would you want to use different colors? IF you have a blue outfit – you will want to pick a different color for your background so it is easier to get rid of the background later, etc. Typically green works with most any outfit and is easiest to get rid of it later when you just want the avatar.
Continue.
STEP 4
Open a photo editing program (Photoshop, Corel Paintshop, Microsoft Paint – found under Start—All Programs—Accessories—Paint). The pictures below demonstrate how to open the default Paint. I chose to do this because there are too many to choose from and I can't take pictures of them all. If you have another Photo editing program, I would use it instead of Paint. I assume you know how to open it. =) Just click on All Programs--(then whatever name it is).

For Windows Paint -- default -- if you do not have any other Photo Editing Program)
STEP 5
Create a new file (File—New). In Paint:

In Photoshop:
STEP 6
Maximize the window with your avatar in it. Do this by dragging the right corner of it (on the silver/gray part) to make it bigger. You want to make it almost as big as your screen but leave room at the bottom to see your task bar – in order to click back and forth from the avatar window and photo editor program.
STEP 7
Now adjust the view of your avatar – so that it is in the pose you wish to capture. Adjust the view so you have as much of the avatar in the window as possible – without touching the top or the bottom of the window – leaving only small amounts of free space.
STEP 8
Now you are ready—make sure the avatar window is on top – maximized and your camera view is adjusted how you wish the image to look. Then click the “Print Screen” button on your keyboard (generally on top row between letter keys and number pad).
STEP 9
Once you’ve done the “Print Screen” toggle (click on the bottom task bar to get) back to your Photo Editing Program. You will not see anything but it should have worked. Choose Edit—Paste and voila you should have the screen shot.

In Photoshop:
STEP 10
Now save your screenshot file. File—Save. Save it on your desktop – be sure to name it something you will remember. You can save it in any format. The default is .bmp -- this is fine. I would not recommend doing .gif because it lowers the pixel count which makes the picture look grainy sometimes.

YOU ARE FINISHED!
Now you have a screen shot. You can email this to me and I will use it in the group sticker or make a sticker for you.
